Emotions are like a storm, they can throw you so far off-course that you don’t know where you are and what to do.
What do you do next?
You focus on the stars, you look to the horizon, you watch where the birds fly; All this to find your way. Many fear the ocean for its storms, the same goes with the mind and emotions. A storm of emotions can be disorientating, but fixating on what is real and what is the next best thing can help you understand yourself and why you feel the way you feel.
I suffer from anxiety attacks on a constant; A typhoon whirling around in my head. It is a mix of thoughts and feelings. I feel frustration, depression, anger, and so on. I learned to pinpoint why I feel the way I feel and try going to a place where I know where I am, what I am doing, and what to do next.
I learned that suppressing one’s feelings will only lead to a bigger problem. It may seem to remedy a situation but keeping things bottled up could lead to either a meltdown or a shutdown. Let yourself feel, and understand what you are feeling.
